Pipe bursting is a method of replacing damaged or broken underground water, sewer or gas lines. Unlike traditional methods, it requires little or no open trenching. By accessing the pipe at two points, a new length of pipe can be pulled through an existing pipe, rupturing the host pipe and replacing it with a clean line. This saves time and expense, as well as sparing the reconstruction of landscaping, sidewalks, and driveways or causing major damage to existing tree roots. Even though pipe bursting is a recent development, it is a fast-growing standard in pipe replacement. This is a less destructive method to replace sewer if the existing host pipe has the proper percent of grade.
